Method
Cook onion and green pepper in shortening in a 12" Dutch oven until tender. Add meat and brown. Add tomato sauce, corn, olives, garlic, sugar, salt, pepper and chili powder. Cover and simmer 20-25 minutes in hot coals. In separate bowl, combine cornmeal, salt and water. Stir and pour over the meat mixture. Bake in 350 coals for about 45 minutes or until cornbread topping is done. |
