Wagon Wheel Breakfast

Ingredients

  • 1- 8 oz. pkg. Brown n/ Serve sausages
  • 1 Tbsp. Cooking oil
  • 1 14 oz. Jar spiced apple rings (need 4 rings)
  • ½ cup Cooking oil
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk (Buttermilk or sour milk best)
  • Spice Pack including;
  • ½ cup Brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup Quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup Bisquick or Pioneer biscuit mix

Method

Drain apple rings and cut 3 rings into quarter circles. Brown sausage in 1 tablespoon oil in 12" Dutch Oven. Place one apple ring in the greased oven center then arrange sausage spoke-fashion touching bottom of oven. Place cut apple rings in a circle around the outside forming the rim of the wheel, between the spokes.

Combine ½ c. cooking oil with egg, oats, milk, brown sugar and biscuit mix in a mixing bowl. Stir just until moistened. Spread batter evenly over wheel. Bake at 400 degrees (one ring of briquets below oven, two rings on top) for 20-25 minutes or until browned. Invert onto serving plate. Serve with syrup.
